The main aim of the department of sociology is to increase the opportunities of its students to understand the world and society in the broadest sense. Sociology is an awareness of societies on their own history and societies, and therefore on events in the world. In this framework, our department aims to provide its students with the opportunity to study in many fields by transferring the basic concepts, tools and knowledge of the discipline of sociology during their undergraduate education and thus gaining the ability to understand, explain and analyze social life.
The general objectives of our department are to train sociologists who can do and apply individual and collective research, can work interdisciplinary, and comply with professional responsibilities and ethical values. Our students are capable of follow and analyze historical and current social, economic, political, cultural and technical developments and have the ability to provide research and suggestions by developing a critical, versatile and analytical approach to social problems, closely follow national and international developments in the field in accordance with the principle of lifelong learning.
In line with this understanding, our department examines various historical and contemporary dimensions of social life, from the historical facts of societies to current developments in the world and in our society. Our graduates, who have the title of sociologist, can make professional careers in many fields, from educational activities to the media, from political research institutions to advertising, from social services to human resources and public relations, with the ability to interpret the social field they have acquired; have the opportunity to work in private and public institutions.
